Happy Minute is a weekly one-minute toast at 5 pm Pacific on Fridays to celebrate the biggest badass in our entrepreneurial ecosystem that week. We like to focus on key moments of adversity along their entrepreneurial journey and are intentional about celebrating all that it takes to get through them. We usually have a tight group of 25-30 that joins for the minute. Our CEO emcees, always making it easy and fun.

As the toaster, hop on the Zoom link found at happyminute.com a few minutes early (e.g. 4:55 pm Pacific) from your laptop. Kerri will meet you on the call and make sure everything is in order. The toast will start at 5pm Pacific Time/ 6pm Mountain Time/ 8pm Eastern Time sharp and will last for exactly one minute (it’s short but sweet).

As mentioned, we like to highlight adversity overcome by the toastee and the specific win that we are celebrating. As the toaster, you’re likely familiar with the toastee’s entrepreneurial journey. While the content of the toast is fully up to you, the toaster generally sets up the toastee with a mention of the adversity overcome and the win, and the toastee accepts the toast while acknowledging the adversity and thanking everyone. We wrap up with a “Happy Friday” to all.

We try not to take things too seriously, as this is intended to be a celebration among friends. However, what we’re celebrating is often a pretty substantial achievement – after all, the ecosystem is stocked full of cool people doing incredible things. Ultimately, our best Happy Minutes have felt like the moment at an event where you’re tipsy on laughter and the room goes silent for a minute to convey true appreciation and respect to one of your own. Then someone cracks a joke and it’s back to levity. While this kind of atmosphere is impossible to fake, we’ve found it helps to know what has made these moments feel truly special to the toastee in the past.
